The GTJ (Grande Traversée du Jura) allows you to discover all the facets of the French Jura massif along its 415 km. The relief is certainly gentler than in the Alps, but don't be mistaken! Alternating the differences in altitude, this itinerary still presents many technical passages and sometimes long climbs. But it is also the promise of beautiful descents!

The proposed route covers the southern 240km of the GTJ from Morteau in the Doubs to Culoz in the Ain, via the Mont d'Or and the Grand Colombier. The route along the GTJ is never monotonous. The route takes you through hills and valleys (an expression that takes on its full meaning in the Haut Jura!), alternating between pastures, peat bogs, undergrowth and deep spruce forests. You'll discover picturesque villages surrounded by greenery, peaceful natural glacial lakes and breathtaking panoramas. In the evening, you can recharge your batteries with regional dishes based on famous local produce (Comté, Morbier, Mont d'Or, Morteau sausage, etc.).

Highlights
  • A North/South itinerary with panoramic views of the Alps.
  • The discovery of the local gastronomy, the crossing of magnificent forests and typical valleys
  • Numerous variations are possible, allowing you to evolve on sectors adapted to your level.
  • Supervision by a mountain bike guide from the Jura
